Filmmaking is not fun.
Lo harus menghadapi ego orang-orang kreatif yang punya kebenaran masing-masing. Lo harus meladeni tuntutan penonton pintar yang gak tau maunya apa tapi tau yang gak mereka mau apa. Lo harus meladeni pemerintah yang bercita-cita film Indonesia menjadi tuan rumah di negaranya, tapi peraturannya menyemangati lebih banyak pengecut-pengecut yang gak punya suara untuk difilmkan.
Filmmaking is not fun.
Every step you make is a step of faith. Every turn you take is a temptation. You can always decide to make a movie that is not you while waiting for the chance to make your movie.
They never did.
But once you live up to your faith and see how zero to zero is actually fun, filmmaking is fun indeed. It is so much fun even your fortune and fame cannot tempt me. They are already chasing me.
I feel like I need no more party, no more recognition, no more achievement to prove. I have the fun in me.
And so yes, I do agree.
